| HEADACHES |
Many
people suffer from headaches on a regular basis, and believe
that headaches are a normal part of life. Modern society
has become so involved in treating symptoms that often the
cause of the problem goes untreated or completely ignored.
This is often the case with headaches. People have been
conditioned to use drugs to ease headache pain. Drugs, however,
taken over extended periods of time, can adversely affect
your body’s functions for years to come. Drugs cover
up the symptoms but do nothing to correct the cause.
Through a combination of Medical and Chiropractic treatments,
we are able to treat the cause of your headaches, not just
the symptoms. Most headaches are the result of nerve pressure
at the base of the skull. This abnormal pressure can result
from posture deviations or misalignments due to accidents,
falls, or repetitive stress resulting from work or other
activities of daily living.
With state-of-the-art testing we can successfully determine
areas of potential nerve compression. Utilizing a combination
of medications and Chiropractic adjustments, we can successfully
correct the underlying spinal misalignments, reduce the
nerve compression and ultimately resolve the underlying
cause of your headache.

SCIATICA |
| Sciatica
is an extremely painful condition which affects the largest
and longest nerve in the body. It is almost always due to
pressure placed on nerves in the lower back. Pressure placed
on spinal nerves result in symptoms of pain, numbness, tingling
and burning sensations. These symptoms usually effect one
or both legs and will often be accompanied by severe lower
back pain.
The lower back has a greater amount of stress than the upper
back due to the greater amount of weight it has to support.
As a result, displacements of the bones and joints of the
lower back frequently occur. These displacements, known
as subluxations, cause the nerves to be pinched which can
lead to severe hip, leg, and foot pain.
Doctors at Care Medical Centers are trained
to detect and correct the causes of sciatica. Utilizing
X-rays, MRI’s and other diagnostic tools, we can determine
how and why compression of spinal nerves occur and make
necessary structural changes to the spine to eliminate the
painful nerve compression. A combination of Medical and
Chiropractic care can eliminate the underlying cause of
sciatic pain.

| WHIPLASH |
Any
substantial blow to your body, whether from a car accident,
contact sports, or an accident at work, can cause whiplash.
Whiplash occurs as a result of a rapid acceleration/deceleration
of the head. These forces are transferred to the neck and
upper back areas resulting in potential damage to surrounding
ligaments, tendons,
muscles, discs and nerves. The biggest danger with whiplash
injuries is that the symptoms can take years to develop.
Symptoms of whiplash include, but are not limited to; neck
pain, headaches, shoulder pain, dizziness, nausea, blurred
vision as well as ringing in the ears.
The trauma responsible for the whiplash symptoms result
in abnormal posture deviation and misalignments of the vertebrae
of the spine. Left untreated, these misalignments result
in a slow degenerative process of the spine commonly known
as arthritis. Degenerative arthritis takes years to develop
and once it is present, cannot be reversed.
The Doctors at Care Medical Centers are
trained to correct misalignments attributed to whiplash
type injuries. Utilizing a combination of Medical and Chiropractic
treatment, we will control and often eliminate the pain
associated with these injuries, as well as make the necessary
corrections to prevent the premature development of arthritic
problems normally associated with advanced age.

| DISC
HERNIATION(S) |
| Intervertebral
Discs are the structures located between the bones of the
spine known as vertebrae. These discs act as shock absorbers
for the spine and protect the nerves that exit from between
the vertebrae. Discs are made of a rough outer cartilage
that encases an inside gelatinous material known as the
nucleus pulposus. Due to trauma or repetitive stress, the
outer cartilage will often tear, allowing the gelatinous
material inside to bulge or leak out. (bulge vs. herniation)
Symptoms result when the herniated nucleus compresses or
irritates the nerve root.
The presence of herniated disc(s) usually result in symptoms
of severe neck or lower back complaints, depending on the
location of the herniation. Other symptoms including pain,
numbness and burning sensations are often noted into the
arms and hands and can occur unilaterally or bilaterally.
An MRI is the preferred mechanism for evaluating the existence
of disc herniations. Severe herniations may require surgical
intervention but most herniations can be treated successfully
with a combination of
Physical Therapy and Chiropractic adjustments.
Proper evaluation and diagnosis are essential to managing
and treating disc herniations. The doctors at Care
Medical Centers utilize all existing techniques
to detect and adequately treat symptoms associated with
disc herniations. We use a combination of medical and chiropractic
treatments in an effort to avoid unnecessary surgery. When
surgery is indicated, we have established relationships
with excellent Orthopedic surgeons and Neurosurgeons who
practice with the same quality and expertise we insist upon.

| DEGENERATIVE
ARTHRITIS/OSTEOARTHRITIS |
Just
as the name suggests, Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD),
is a process by which the cartilage and bones of weight
bearing areas erode due to physical stress placed on those
areas. The age of a patient as well as the types of physical
activities he or she performs, plays a significant role
in the development of degenerative arthritis. A football
player, for example, is more likely to have early onset
DJD than someone who has lived a more passive lifestyle.
Trauma incurred at a young age resulting in misalignments
of the spine, will ultimately produce excessive wear and
tear of the surrounding bone and cartilage and also produce
an early onset of DJD.
Symptoms of Osteoarthritis include localized pain in the
areas of degeneration and usually accompanied by morning
stiffness that eases following activity. By age 40, almost
all people develop mild DJD, although it is usually asymptomatic.
By age 60 it has usually developed into a painful daily
event. If treated appropriately at a young age, the effects
of osteoarthritis can be minimilized and possibly prevented.
Osteoarthritis is easily detected by taking routine x-rays
of the painful areas involved. The doctors at Care
Medical Centers are trained in identifying misalignments
of the spine that may ultimately produce osteoarthritis.
With a combination of medications and proper correction
of misalignments, we have the ability to prevent and/or
correct the underlying cause of your pain.
